Exploring British Columbia & Kynock Inlet

We continued our journey south through the Inside Passage today, exploring the coast of British Columbia and stopping for afternoon hikes, kayak opportunities, and zodiac cruises at Kynock Inlet. To summarize the day’s happenings, we collaborated and tried our hand at Haiku, a Japanese three-line lyric poetry form.

Haiku Aboard the Sea Lion

pre-dawn messengers
softly coming to our craft
petrels preaching peace

rain landing on heads
rolling raucously downwards
to tickle warm skin

Zodiac in rain
’neath sheer cedar cloakéd cliffs
kittiwakes cry joy

cedar beckoning
scented curtains of green lace
framing bear pathways

waterfalls singing
schooling salmon make their way
black bear runs splashing

underway again
captain says secure all gear
time to rock and roll
